Yep, I know how you feel!!

    Welcoming Volunteers

I'm in a similar position as you are - do you have your Commissioner's checklist for new volunteers? That is a good starting point. Some of it may depend whether she's coming in with a particular role in mind, or is open for anything.

    New Programme - Discuss!

I think so too - and actually, for Rainbows it could be 3 out of 5. And eventually a skills builder could have up to 8 activities so that we can run even more nights to cover missed evenings without girls getting bored.

Undoing a mistake on website re new programme SB.

I can't help you there - I chose the wrong date on a UMA I put in, and am not sure how to fix that either!

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

I really hope this is how it develops in the future. They will help and support those who need it, and inspire those who want to take it further and develop their own adaptations.

    Compare and contrast...

I don't think so - and I imagine that's for the exact reason we've just discussed! But when a parent contacts me, I don't transfer them to another unit until I've spoken to the leader there to see if they've got space, as I don't want the parent to go around the houses getting the same response...

    Adding Skill Builders to GO

That's true, but If I'd been able to select the UMA, and then tick box the girls who completed that UMA it would take less than 30 seconds. I'm a web designer and I work in usability and user experience.

And another thing - why on EARTH can't you sort the anniversaries list by time in guiding?? You can filter by any order-able column, which means you can see only the girls in one six if you want. But why would you want to do that? I want to be able to see how many 1s, 2s 3s, or 4s I need to buy!

    Adding Skill Builders to GO

I just had fun… With the UMAs you can add them to all girls in the unit in one go. I back dated one that we did from the first pack when they came out as tasters, and applied it to the whole unit. I went and checked on a girl who joined this term - she had that UMA! Even though her joining...

    Compare and contrast...

It doesn't really. I can see units that have spaces, but when I contact their leaders I find that while they have 1 space right now, they have 8 girls starting next term, and another 27 on the waiting list. And I know the feeling, because I have had to say to totally new enquirers who are...

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

I think this is a potential danger for some people; I agree with what Willow is saying. I love the themes themselves. I love how it runs through the sections. I like the skills builders, and hope they will grow so that there are more options in the future. I like the UMAs as girl led...

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

yes, they are hours - but so is the entire 1.5 hours per week, 12 weeks a term. During which we do activities. So there are 18 hours to play with… or so a parent might think. But only hours from the UMA cards count, which is why I think a name like Theme Activity Cards would be clearer.

What does your Guiding bag look like?

I just read that as built in Polly Pockets and got quite excited.

    Badge books (New programme)

Ooh, those are different - they definitely look like old stock. Our trading depot does the ones that are on the HQ website which are also good quality, except for the stupid anti strangle cords.

    Badge books (New programme)

we give the sling bag, and they did change them to an awful cheap nasty one. I had two just fall apart at the seams. So we planned to have our own unit ones printed - then they switched back to the original ones.
