Don't do as I do, do as I say?

    Do it as well?

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

The whole meeting isn't supposed to be spent doing the new programme though, there is room left for doing what we've always done. You can have meetings where you don't do the new programme but things as you always have, special crafts, outings, visitors etc so there we will always need to be...

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

To be honest can see that at all, I do think though that many people are jumping in to criticise it before they've even read through it all, done the e learning or even read it up that others are taking what they say as being how it is. This means there's a doom and gloom attitude spreading...

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

How do you find that minority unless you have a common standard? We used to have a common standard in Guiding, it's only relatively recently that leaders have been able to do their own 'thing' as it were.

Don't do as I do, do as I say?

There certainly is! so much so that I'm not going on that site for a bit, everything is wrong, the new programme won't work, people are stressing badly, it's not suitable for Rainbows, it's rubbish, it's too much work, giving up Guiding etc etc. It made me quite despondent from reading it, I've...

    Sharing a double airbed

I think I'd rather see someone's head than their feet though! :D

    Fake threads?

It's the advertising bots, I wouldn't mind but they are mostly about 'products' for men, I'd be very dubious about buying things from an unknown sites which post on random forums! :D:D

Weekly Discussion: Squabbles, sulks and strops

We do that usually and it works, our Flossie makes sure however she's never ignored by anyone. I'm seriously thinking about recommending she goes to the weekly stage school, instead of Rainbows. If it sounds like I have no sympathy it's because I don't. I will not have her disrupting everything...

Weekly Discussion: Squabbles, sulks and strops

I have had a chat with dad, had him to a meeting, explained things to him, he tried to take over the meeting. I have said we'd like her to be able to continue in Guiding etc etc. He doesn't actually seem to be that bothered. I managed to have a word with mum on one of her rare visits up (...

Weekly Discussion: Squabbles, sulks and strops

The short time between tantrums she spends trying to be in the front of everything, interrupting conversations, pushing her way between girls to be the one doing the activity first, shouting and generally being disruptive. she won't wait her turn for anything, has to have the...

Weekly Discussion: Squabbles, sulks and strops

That's the sort of thing I've always had over the years in various groups, Guiding, Scouting, Pony Club, playgroups, martial arts etc, they all run fairly much the same which is why I know the Flossie I have is very different and in need of more help than we can give her in an hour a week.

Weekly Discussion: Squabbles, sulks and strops

I have a Rainbow who is a serious problem, her tantrums are epic, frequent and totally focussed on her getting her own way. She is seven in November and it's got to the point where I am seriously having to consider asking her father to take her out of the unit as it is disruptive and wearing on...

    New programme for rainbows

Is anyone not going to use the new programme? I ask this after reading comments on FB that it was too expensive to put into place and that the poster was stockpiling Roundabout badges so they could continue doing the old programme for a few more years. On another topic a couple of posters were...

Information: Church Parade - church services

I have to agree, badges which are given out for everything especially as a reward for turning up etc eventually just mean nothing. So often I'm seeing queries for badges to give to girls who do something they would have done anyway. I am really expecting a 'I went to the toilet' badge to turn up...

Information: Church Parade - church services

I would say yes, the developing part of it shouldn't be done In the meeting place but the learning about other beliefs would in my mind be fine as long as the information is accurate which quite often it's not, it's not always correct in schools either. Passing information on is good but not...

Information: Church Parade - church services

As it's not part of the Guiding programme why is there a need to get girls into church? We have them for an hour or two a week to do 'Guiding' things which is a wide remit but their religious education is not our concern nor should it be. Why should we be encouraging girls to go to church?

Weekly Discussion: What keeps you going?

I just look back on my working life ( I'm retired now, I had two careers that were 'pressure' jobs)) and laugh because the above problems are nothing to stuff I dealt with when I was working. I did learn though through my working life to not take anything home with me and to compartmentalise...

    Early years provision

TKD patterns are easier than karate katas, we do karate, Judo, BJJ and Muay Thai leading to MMA. We don't do child black belts at all. We also don't play games as such because we take martial arts seriously and don't see ourselves as childcare at all, so they do martial arts or don't. :)

    Early years provision

The chief instructor of my martial arts club put forward an idea to have a Little Dragons class of 3-5ish children to feed into the children's class which currently starts at 7 years old though hopefully older. Myself and the other instructors said we weren't willing to teach children that young...

    Future Girl Challenge with Rainbows

A while back some of the Brownies were talking about Trump, I've never heard girls talk about anything even vaguely political before, not even British stuff but they were saying how worried they were about him starting a war. I found it very troubling for a lot of reasons. My Rainbows did...
