    New Programme - Discuss!

Yes, on UMAs you can mark the whole unit complete, but then on the second table you can go through and delete each activity from girls who weren't there by selecting "delete" from the drop down arrow. Skills builders....I have been through and added the one we're working on to all girls, I...

I am going to try saying to parents near the start of term that the three or four weeks in the term we have planned a SB are the key weeks their daughter needs to attend to get their badges. You can lead the horse....

    Adding Skill Builders to GO

In defence of those who went to the day in question....I am not seeing very much of what we asked for, and I am wondering why I bothered!!

What does your Guiding bag look like?

With all these new resources, it's very heavy!!! I am just going to take out the skill builder (s) and UMAs we're working on that term and store them in a working folder, I think. Moving to bank transfer to avoid loose envelopes of cash. Email out forms and then as they come in clip behind...

    New Programme - Discuss!

I am curious to know how people are planning on running the skill builders while we are all getting used to everything. The options I can see are: 1. Run 1 skill builder at 1 stage to start with. 2. Run 1 skill builder with two or more (if Guides) stages from the same one simultaneously. 3. Run...

Weekly Discussion: Does Go deserve a bad reputation?

I think a lot of people feel cheated, because they bigged up the upgrade and it failed to meet expectations, primarily that it would be fewer clicks and more intuitive. It isn't any better than what we had, and in some cases it's worse. The new recording tool, we were warned it wouldn't be the...

    New Programme - Discuss!

I think while we're getting used to everything we're going to do either a UMA or skill builder activity most weeks. That means that those who attend every week without fail will get badges quicker, but missing a week or two may not be as big a deal as it might otherwise be. This term I'm...

Until we give it a try, we just don't know if it won't work. I am disappointed that your commissioners aren't prepared to give it a try over the changeover year.

    New Anniversary badges

I'm going to give whichever badge they're due at the start of this term to "launch" the new programme and give most something to go home with...whether that is 1, 2, 3, or 4 years. Not planning on back dating them. Going forward, I'll probably update when I give out most other badges at the...

    Joining fee?

I would say the new record book is essential. The handbook is where compromises could be made, if required. Ideally they'd have them both. I'm getting all my current lot a record book but only getting the handbook for new joiners, the others can buy it if they want it. We'll have unit copies for...

It's one of those things you need to try to find out, clearly Kerstee is so good at firelighting she's only ever required 1 match....only explanation :D

    Joining fee?

I have a unit that doesn't currently charge a joining fee but subs are a little higher (£5 a term more), and a unit who charges a £25 joining fee but termly subs are a little lower. Both groups buy all the books etc for the girls and pay census from funds. I can see the benefits of doing both...

    Joining fee?

I'm looking at getting gift aid set up (better late than never) as I reckon nearly all my parents are tax payers - is this something you already do? If not, might be worth looking into?

    Starting Queens Guide Award

If you go as staff to Wellies it can definitely count as your residential if you go to one where you don't know everyone already, as you arrive Thursday afternoon and stay until at least Monday. I'm sure I've seen some getting Element 4 signed off for having undertaken a particular extra...

    New Programme - Discuss!

This was always my concern, that I as a leader would not have the skills required to fulfill the requirements of prescribed activities. Yes, I could look at getting someone in, but this is not practical on a regular basis. I hoped instructions would be given, either on the cards or, where it...
