As a Guider one of my favourite things is to create themes. These may be themes for weekends or even just for an evening.
I thought it may be cool to share one or two of my ideas with all you lovely fellow Guiders. These themes can mainly be adapted for Brownies and Rangers. I have never done Rainbows so im not sure of their capabilities.
This is an Idea for a weekend we did this year with 25 Guides.
We watched the Movie Camp Rock This was a good base for the theme of the weekend and is a PG

We also did Kareoke mainly using the rock legends singstar and we also had a Rock Quiz!
As for food related activities as it was an American movie so we made Cheeseburgers with a healthy twist, the meat was completely 100% organic and we had lots and lots of vegetables like grilled courgette strips mmm
We made Chocolate brownies from this kit and they turned out very well!

As for Crafts we did the following.
Rock Hats
The hats were an amazing things to make and they looked amazing!
we obtained the fabric from this amazing company
http://www.fabricland.co.uk It was under Fleece and it is called Cyanide Suzy
we cut these into strips of 50cm x 1mtr and sewed them into tubes (with the stitching on the inside)
you then cut a 1cm strip off the end. This is to bunch your hat.
You then cut fringes 1cm thick and about 15cm long at each end
you then pull the hat back through itself so its double thick and this then makes a tassle ended tube.
you then tie the piece of fabric to bunch the hat together and tie it up
This is what the hat looks like! and the second photo is what a anarchist guide does with the craft! lol

Bags of Rock amazingness
These bags were from Baker Ross and were great quality
We decorated them with felt shapes from Baker Ross and Fabric Pens. One tip I would would suggest is to put the bags into a black bag then make the girls choose them without looking. They all wanted Pink and the fact that some of them had a totally random colour meant they were very creative. One guide had a yellow bag and made it a Bee themed bag with "Bee Yourself" wtitten on it. I genuinely dont think she would have been so creative had she had a pink bag!

Hands of rock wrath gloves!
These were a very cheap and effective craft. I bought 30 pairs of neon socks from Primark they were £1.50 for 5
the girls the cut the feet part off so they had a straight tube.
They then cut a thumb hole. Some girls decorated their with fabric pens, I also gave them needle and cotton and fabric glue and sequins, some sewed on sequins and some got creative with different colour offcuts to their colour.

Rockalicious Wide Game
Our leader Laura made up a wide game from scratch, this involved the girls having to find tokens to earn different types of choices as pizza tokens.
They had to find hidden objects and they also had to find baloons with tokens inside. they did all of this whilst being blasted by the leaders with supersoakers! We made it twice as hard by tying the group together!

I hope some of you try our Rock weekend! It was great fun and the campfire in rock chick costumes was amazing!
We played rock music all weekend and the girls all heard music they had never heard before and loved it!
Rock on dudes!
