I know some people have success by using freecycle, you could also put a notice up in any libraries and shop windows (that is how I came back to guiding), invite you local paper to do an article and ask them to include that you need volunteers, and my final suggestion would be to hold a parents evening and explain that you might have to close if you cant find either parent helpers, unit helpers or a new leader - you might get a couple of interested parents that you can rope in. Hope that helps.
