Default OMG! Complaint - you must wash my daughter's socks!

I have just gotten off the phone with two of my Guide Guiders in the District. The GIC of the unit was ringing as she'd received a complaint and didn't know how to handle it. The story goes like this:

Last week GIC was absent from meeting and 2 AGs did a camping evening, putting up tents as practise for summer camp. The younger AG invited a Scouting friend (male) to help them with the tents. Onbviously they were doing this in the field outside their hall and one of the Guides managed to get her socks dirty in the process. After last week's meeting the mother of said Guide phoned young AG and ranted down the phone to her about the fact that her daughter's socks were dirty, why was this man there, was he CRBed, and so it goes on. I was not made aware of this at the time.

Tonight the GIC is back at their meeting and the mum has brought in a letter of complaint accompanied by the socks! I have yet to read the letter but from what the GIC has just told me she in complaining that her socks got dirty and expecting the Guiders to wash them for her. I've never heard anything like it and the GIC was obviously very upset about the whole thing as she was in tears on the phone to me by the end of the comversation.

Unfortunately I know the mother in question as I work with her so it's going to be an interesting progession. I'm waiting to see the letter before making my move!!

What will they throw at us next!

If I'd have known I'd have given my whole uniform to my GIC last week it smelt of smoke from outdoor cooking

I clearly wouldn't but can't think of a sensible response!

Ditto....maybe you should send them back with a copy of the 'we are only leaders' poem and a couple of persil tablets....

We've done outdoor cooking tonight and I have a lovely smoky aroma as do all my Guides.

Good luck and let us know how you go on. Give our support to the two guiders in question.

I despair at parents some times. Does that mean if their child makes my uniform or clothes dirty they'll wash them for me?

Send all the leader's uniforms back with a note saying "These got dirty while we were looking after your daughter. We trust you will wash them."

Perhaps she'll realise how daft she's being? I wonder if she sends school sports kit into the school as well. I mean seriously, how hard can it be to put the socks in with the rest of the wash?

On a side note, why did the Guide have her shoes off on the grass (?) for them to get dirty? (I'm assuming the issue was grass or mud stains as opposed to normal dirt from daily wear)

So the socks got dirty last week and she is bringing them back this week?

(if so why would she want to keep dirty socks in the house for that long))

Oooh I lovethat suggestion! Pity you can't really do it.

Sending e-hugs and virtual chocolate for having to deal with such a random complaint! Any idea where the socks in question ended up?

This is the most ridiculous complaint I have ever heard!
What will the parents do at the end of camp?! Half my socks get binned after camp!

The fact that the mother is apparently more worried about the socks than the male scouter speaks volumes!
