    Default Ideas for International Night

Can anyone please give me a list of what British/UK crafts so that we can make and take to Canada. We need to be sort of "lightweight" stuff.

The ages we'll be doing are from Brownies to Rangers and there'll be around 200 on site.

I'm taking keyring men out of beads but I could do with more stuff and ideas.

We have been given the use of kitchen for food so that's done (making scones and yorkshire puddings!)

Songs - I did have a thread about this but I cannot find it! Need ideas of songs by Friday as we have only got one bonding day on Saturday!!!

    I appreciate your help.

    Thank you.

Yorkie only just seen this thread.

Could you make some UK flags, either colour or collage and use straws for the stick part.

I know it is not really a craft but how about making your own wordsearch using puzzlemaker on the internet using words associated with the UK in general and UK Guiding.

How about trying to teach them On Ilkley Moor bah't hat seeing as you are from Yorkshire!!

I don't know if these ideas are any good but cannot think of anything else at the moment, if I do I will let you know.

What about taking some old used UK stamps for the girls to make bookmarks out of - could also add some maps or pics to these as well.

Traditional song games such as oranges and lemons.

What about hosting an english tea party....

    Canadian Guider here.

You want swaps, as the Girl Scouts USA call them. What we used to call Camp Hat Crafts. Something that says, "UK" - I've had ones that said, or had attachments, indicating where they were from eg 6B Winnipeg Guides. These could be as easy as bookmarks, or used stamps glued onto a backing and shellack'd for durability.

It's wise to have some camp blanket crests or, like, out of service, leftover badges - you trade a swap for a swap, and a crest/badge for a crest. Pins likewise, a pin for a pin.

If you are looking for a little something for a hostess gift or the like, you can't go wrong with a small UK Guiding token gift, or something uniquely British, 'even if' it's
a grocery store item It's the thought that counts. We're losing the manners that has us writing thank-you letters - a letter afterwards with a few thoughts about the experience will go a long, long way.
