    Default Iceage crafts

We're having an Ice Age (as in the cartoon film) theme and I'm trying to think of a few standby crafts that don't need a lot of kit. Any brainwaves?

    Which age group is it?

For younger age groups possibly a woolly mammoth picture. Draw a picture of a woolly mammoth on a4, and then cut up and stick on brown wool to make a 3d picture

Thanks guys - I've also just been told that there is a problem with ice melting in the second film so we may do some things with a bit of a green/global warming theme...

    For Ice Age 3:

anything EGG themed or DINOSAUR themed

anything to do with hard boiled eggs (like decorating them with faces or challenges to get them from A to B without breaking?)

collecting acorn race (could use anything for the "acorn" like beanbags, balls, rolled up newspaper)

could play alien-egg game and call it "dinosaur eggs" instead

could turn one of the screen images into a simple straw-topper idea?:

if you had the time (eg at sleepover or fun day) could perhaps make the dinosaur land out of junk modelling or even papier mache

make up a grab dinosaur egg game (split girls into 2 teams and then give each girl in each team a number - sit girls in circle and then call out the numbers one at a time - place a ball in the centre of the circle and this is the "egg" - when number called both girls with that number from each of the two teams has to stand up, run round circle, back through gap and try and grab egg first - keep tally to know which team is winning)

could perhaps turn elephant mask into mammoth mask?:

Few dinosaur ideas on the free kids craft website (including a stand up T-Rex and simple 3D stegosaurus):

A few dinosaur finger puppets with holes for "fingers" which could perhaps be used?:

and a simple moving dinosaur (needs split butterfly pin or concertina neck):

    some colouring pages:

or what about dinosaur shadow puppets (need sheet & lamp/torches & dinosaur silhouette outlines):

or how about making own dinosaur baby out of old sock:

or this dinosaur made from paper plate:

perhaps older girls could have a go at making their own dinosaur out of pipecleaners or paperclips?:

If you got styrofoam blocks you could make mini igloos

or you use hama beads to make images of the characters - print them and then use sticky back plastic rather than the peg boards!

can make mini-igloos out of ice-cubes (regular shaped) - its actually quite good fun but needs loads of ice-cubes though!!!! When I did it this with my rainbows once I was making ice-cubes for weeks and weeks beforehand!

Best as a small group actually as you "limit" the amount of igloos being built that way!
