Thread: New Leaders/Unit Helpers Required In Edinburgh

Default New Leaders/Unit Helpers Required In Edinburgh

I am an assistant guider for a Brownie Pack and a guide leader for a Guide Pack. Both are run on a Wednesday night (Brownies 6.15pm to 7.30 and Guides 7.30-9pm) in Corstorphine and could use some extra help with both.

Brownies - At the moment there are 2 Guiders (me & Brown Owl) and 2 unit helpers. Both our unit helpers are in 5th year of High School so as you can imagine school work comes first so most of the time there's only 2 of us. We have about 15 Brownies.

Guides - I am the Guide leader and have 2 Unit helpers who are hoping to get their adult qualification soon. One of the girls in pregnant and finishes up at xmas for a few months. We have 6 girls.

With both of these groups I could use some extra help either every week, on a rota basis or as a back up plan/in an emergency if and when is needed (classic example tonight both my guide unit helpers have taken ill so I'll have to cancel which I don't like to do).

Unfortunately my work has cut my dept back to a ridiculous number and have been working very long hours some days to get through the work. On occasions I'm working late then running straight to Brownies to be there on time or having to cancel last minute cause work commitments clash. If I can't make the Brownies I have to rely on the twin unit helpers but with school work this is not always possible.

Sorry, I'm going on a bit here....what I'm really looking to see is if anyone knows of someone who would be able to help on an adhoc basis??

Great news - had a phone call over the weekend from my DC to say someone had come forward at a volunteer fair held in Edinburgh recently looking to get involved in Guiding. Thankfully for me she lives just around from where my Guides are and is coming this week to meet the girls and other leaders and hopefully start helping!

We also have a new Unit Helper for Brownies - a high school student.

Things are starting to look up

Would be good if so - I could use somebody as both my Assistants are now in their final year! I know that my Division had a share of someone else's stall at Heriot Watt, as my they couldn't afford the £700 to have a Guiding stall there.
