Shoes....it annoys me every week, every week and gum but that's another essay! I tell them to wear trainers and the guiders make them sit out of games if bad footwear!

i find sitting out doesnt work as some girls then do it on purpose so they can mess around.

i guess you could always use peer pressure and say ok we were going to do xyz(favourite gam) but some of you havent got the correct shoes on so we cant play that, then play a game they dont like.

Fortunately we have a small enough, and young enough, group that they like games, don't mind getting sweaty, and we can keep an eye on individuals who are sitting out.

Ours were able to wear slippers and stuff last term as we were in a school room that insisted we took our shoes off but now we're in a games hall, we're having to inisist on proper shoes. We said anything they can run in. I'd send a note home to the parents telling them with a tear off "sign here" slip so they're more likely to read it.

Sometimes when we do inspection they dont get a point unless all their six has everything needed (practical shoes, uniform, etc) Seems to work to make them wear trainers.

We have the same problem with our guides, they play running games a lot and some of them are dragging their feet to keep shoes on, or tripping up every three minutes etc. We tell them every now and again, but generally we wait until parents are outside and tell them that it isn't practical and that guiding is a uniformed organisation and shoes are included in this, that way it might hit home a little more

Dolly shoes are the worst...but we just let them get on with it - they are Guides...the worst I find is the (short) denim skirts that often go with it!

dont understand why people think crocs fall off! they dont, they have the bit on the back to stop them falling off. i dnt think uggs are suitable coz it is hard to walk in the things let alone run, and if u went out for a walk after it had been raining their feet wuld get soaked. at least crocs are waterproof. tbh, i also dont think that kids shuld even be wearing those kinds of shoes. cant we let kids be kids, rather than them having to be fashionable!
we let ours wear heelies, but any running around games mean they have to take them off. we set the rules on them right at the start of the craze, said they have to be still in the circle etc when we are talking. they have been fine about them tbh

We've constantly had this battle with our Brownies and finally I think we have it nearly sorted. For a while (mainly over summer admittedly) they were continuing to turn up in silly sandals and flip flops and all that. So we said no, you must wear trainers or school shoes otherwise you will sit out. Gradually they all have and we only have the occassional pair of boots. We ban heels aswell obviously (although one of our 7 year olds came up the lsat meeting and said I've got heels on today - luckily there was no running around but still!!)
