I know what you are saying but I did contact CHQ and our GO! person and they said it had changed from the date I got my Warrant, and I wasn't an adult leader then, it was when I was a young leader and 16.
Do you think i should contact them again and get it changed? How long ago did your assistant get theirs?

I shall get back on to them then!!! I knew they couldn't have changed it overnight...although with guiding you never know! People were agreeing!
On my details on Go it says my start date as 2000 but my YL qualification in 1998 so that doesn't make sense, I have my pre-warrant, who can change it? How high up do I need to go?

Do get in contact with your County Membership Support Coordinator and she will be able to add/amend your historical roles on County Go!.

It is your Individual Membership Type (Member or Recognised Volunteer) & Volunteer role (from 16+ years) on Go! that is important now for calculating your Long Service Award. For example, if you became a YL(16-18) or YL-LQ on your 16 birthday and stayed on to become a leader (any type (LinT, Ass L or Unit L)) you should be due your 5 year LS award & badge on your 21st birthday. Or if you were a Unit Helper (Recognised Volunteer (non member)) for a couple of years then became a LinT (member) your service would be backdated to when you first volunteered as a UH, rather than the clock starting from the LinT role. Conversley, if you started as a LinT for say a year, then changed to being a UH (Recognised Volunteer) you would be due your Long Service Certificate (no badge/brooch). Hope this makes sense?

is this a case that different regions were following different "practises" re service awards/starting dates etc? [at least now we are on GO it will all be standarised! and there shouldn't be cases of "paperwork" not done]

could some areas being taking date from the warrant completed date, some from the pre-warrant date or 18 whichever latest, some from pre-warrant date even if age 16, some from "membership date", some from just when paperwork was officially done?

I've got a "missing" gap myself in my historical data... I was a unit helper for 18months in the 1980's and that isn't showing because no official paperwork was done! (and I now can't prove the exact dates - although have a badge to prove I was at a certain event which is date bound and a photo of the unit at my wedding which is date bound)

I have just taken over as Division Commissioner and have found the topic of awards very high on leaders priorities. Getting it on time and having the right date they started in Guiding. I have checked Go and some of the dates are all over the place. It is very important to reward someone for service to Girlguiding at the right time. I have read lots of posts are on this site and I have read the manual. In our County the Divisions pay for 5 years service but county pay for the rest. Maybe with GO the whole country can be treated the same and we can start from when someone starts at 16, even when leaders like myself, who started on the Young Leader scheme before starting leadership scheme at 18 (in the past)

If you start at 16 you can't get your 50 yr award while still in uniform as you have to retire at 65.

Maybe GO should let us record Pack Leaders and start from then!
