Thread: YL paying for trips

    Default YL paying for trips

    Hi

Do you generally charge young leaders to go on trips as you do for guides/brownies or do you pay for them out of unit funds (any costs for our leaders are taken out of unit funds/incorporated into price charged to guides).

    thanks

If I can I always pay for my YLs out of unit funds if they will be actually helping with the unit members throughout the trip.

if there is a cost for them (entrance to theme park etc) then half, and half transport. if no cost (gong to a park for a day) transport, or half transport.
I know I'm in my own world, it's ok, they know me here.

I try to pay for them if can as they are helping out unit although if under 18 they can't help towards the adult:child ratios! (the unit pays for adults)

We pay for our YLs same as we do for adult leaders - as in mho we volunteer our time not our personal finances

If they are going as part of the leader team, then they should be treated the same way as the adult leaders.

We pay for trips so the YLs usually have to pay as well!!

Usually the YLs are paid for out of unit funds, they are volunteering the same as the adult leaders.

We pay for them out of our funds. We have a problem at the moment with that cause one of our guides who always comes to help as an extra hand can't afford to go to our camp but she's still 15 so we can't put her through as a young leader so we can't pay for her as it's unfair on the other girls, it's a shame cause she always enjoys camp :-(

snowy pink owl - i can see that it could be seen as unfair but what would you do if brownie / guide could not afford, i presume you would not stop going but look for spare funds in unit or apply for help from district money etc so do the same for her

pack holidays - pack leaders and young leaders generally pay half
trips - depends, usually pay half but like at the launch where most of day they went off as ss so paid all cost

Hi She can be a YL if she wanted to be rather than a guide. You can become a YL at 14.
