Default Stripes - The Difinitive Debate

Ok, we have a pink debate, here is one to convince GGUK that a plain shirt is in order!

So what do we all think?
Are the stripes the bane of your life? Regardless of whether they're pink or not?
Or maybe you love 'em! Slimming, smart - maybe you want more!

    Vote now!

I'm going to email GGUK with the results of both polls, hopefully they might take some notice - someday.............

Placed my vote... Who would the petitions be sent to? Who actually has the final say?

Love this poll, I'm waiting for someone to say they like the stripes - probably the same one who liked the raspberry!
I promised I'd do a big survey covering uniform, programme etc. a while back, and I've been working on it. Getting quite big now though so I'll have to cut some stuff out.

I'd email as many people as possible with the results (whoever sounds vaguely relevant) & hope.
I don't know who decides uniform review exactly. But then I don't know exactly who gave the go ahead for the raspberry stripes in the first place either!

But saying that if the comments at Innovate last month are anything to go by, we're definately not the only ones. And hopefully they've been made note of, because it was shouted loud enough on rant boards, in the 'perceptions' workshop & on video camera!

Okay - I've gone for like stripes as it's the closest to what I feel.

I don't mind wearing stripes - I've got two stripey work blouses - one with a single colour - and one with purpley grey stripes - both look good on me - but for Guiding either plain or white with Guiding blue stipes please....

It's hard to cover all bases without diluting the results through having too many options.
I guess maybe a 'I like the stripes - but think there should be a plain option too' answer should be in there, but it's just the opposite of the 'dont like them, but should keep the option' question. I tried to have two 'positive' answers & 2 'negative' ones.

    Can't please everyone sadly!

You can at least still get the blue & white JB blouses if you hunt.
Unfortunately we've not had a plain option for over 15 years now for those of us who aren't stripy people.
Crumbs, it hadn't really sunk in that it's been that long!

I personally dont like stripes but, but i think the stripes looks better on the older leaders of GGUK (not meaning to be rude). The old blue stripes and the new pink ones really dont suit someone of a student age like myself.

I'll admit I've seen the long sleeved blouse on an older lady and it did actually fit & look alright on her. My DC was wearing one the other week & she looked alright too but it still did not scream 'Guiding!' to me. However though I've seen it look ok on these people, I don't think it necessarily puts across the right image when trying to encourage younger women/young leaders etc to get their leadership & become Guiders.

I'm trying to avoid digging myself into a hole on this - we wouldn't be here were it not for our older members who taught us guiding & continue to be the backbone of most of our units & districts, & I think it goes without saying really that most of us here (whatever our age) will continue on Guiding no matter what the uniform is. But we have to get the new blood in too. If Guiding is so worried about being modern and young & dynamic (and not traditional, middle class etc etc) then it seems weird that it produces the smart uniform to back up exactly what it doesn't want to be seen as!

The thing is we WANT to be smarter & have a uniform blouse that we feel proud to be representing GGUK in. We're not saying to abandon everything & just have a polo shirt by any means.

i completely agree! But then couldn't there be a compromise and create a shirt more suited to the older generation in guiding and another for theyounger generation? Guiding uniform is so mismatched now anyway that surely another piece won't make any difference?
