Was looking at GGUK site, and found this. Might be of interest to some of you.

"BBC Four are showing two programmes tonight to celebrate the centenary of the Scout movement.

The first programme, 'When we were Scouts', is a repeat of a programme shown earlier this year. Celebrities including Ronnie Corbett and Bernard Cribbins talk about their time in the Scouts and Neil Morrissey spends some time at a modern day Scout camp.

The programme also features female celebrities such as Cherie Booth and Betty Boothroyd discussing what guiding did for them. Tune into this programme on BBC Four at 7pm tonight.

At 9pm, tune into 'Ian Hislop's Scouting for Boys', a celebration of the fourth bestselling book of the 20th Century, Robert Baden-Powell's 'Scouting for Boys'."

Great minds. I just logged on to post the same message. Although it says scouting. There is reference to Guiding

The 'Scouting for Boys' is being shown as part of the Edwardian season according to tjhe EPG, but obviously ties in nicely with the centenery too.
Am getting t'other half to record it for me as I have Guides tonight that don't finish 'til 9pm!

I saw the original programme when it was on, and I think there are some references to it (and a few slight inaccuracies) on the old board.

I was quite inerested to read about the "scouting for boys" programme on teletext when I was eating my toast this morning, I thing Ian Hislop speaks with Lord Baden Powells Grandson as part of the programme. It did sound like it had the potential to be a little controversial...

I also saw the first one whe it was on before yes there was a lot of inaccuracies and in fact I felt that they were taking the micky out of Guiding. and had me thinking they should have done there home work before including guiding

Didn't see the Neil Morrisey one, but have now watched the Ian Hislop one.
I quite enjoyed it - I thought it was fairly fair & positive.

Interesting about how some of the original aims of BP - to target dissaffected youth, boys without male role models, social underclass, importance of citizenship - haven't changed at all!

I liked the closing sentences about how many other movements exist where culture, religion & class don't matter in order to be part of it - and how positive we are. That old 'perception' chestnut.

Made me think how much more GGUK has gone off target at times with our programme though.
