I'm also a guider with a top covered in glitter as our Unit Helper threw glitter down me last night to 'prove the lid was on'

Thanks Ginger Owl!

I am a guider excited about no more Page Three becoming a reality!
Wish they had put Girlguiding instead of Girl Guides though!
I've said this on Twitter, but no official announcement has been made yet so imo it's a little premature to be celebrating.

This could be a trial to see how the lack of P3 affects sales of the Newspaper. It could also mean that a different newspaper will pick up the P3 concept in the Sun's place.

It's a nice little publicity stunt for the Sun though...

I'm a guider who spent HOURS cutting out ready to display on the Rainbows wall for the Unit Helper to say, 'meh, it's alright I suppose.'
It actually REALLY upset me...

I'm a guider who has had a massive breakthrough with the rainbow leaders, and managed to persuade them we don't have to do craft every week!! now to plan an amazing, totally craft free evening for next week..

Also a guider who needs to say a massive thanks to the explorers for building and running an assault course with the guides tonight, the girls started off saying they weren't going anywhere near it after they saw a load of wooden beams hanging from the ceiling, (it was a lot safer than it sounds!) to absolutely loving it and asking if we could do that every week by the end of the night!!
Great - craft is only one of the arts, and the arts only a small part of the programme! If you do craft every week it doesn't leave much time for the many others things you can do, especially outdoors!

I'm a confused Guider. We were playing a ball game last night at Brownies and they all just started singing "twinkle, twinkle, little star" while passing the ball. It was really sweet but I'm still wondering what started it!

Stick a pic on here and we'll be honest.

I'm a guider thinking that yet again GG are only taking the short view on the No More Page 3.

yep! that's what Ive been trying to tell them since I joined them in October!!! The old LIC used to order craft kits from baker ross and do nothing else, so that's what they thought they had to do!

I'm a Guider who's wondering if I did the right thing. I got off the bus earlier at the same time as a guy earlier on, and as I was walking home he was staggering all over the place and a couple of times walked into the road. I called the Police as I was afraid he'd be in an accident. I don't know if he was drunk or ill but I hope that the police located him and either got him home or got him help.

Edit: I had a phone call from a lovely policeman who confirmed they'd found the man and taken him home. :)

I'm a Guider who's distinctly underwhelmed by the campaign. What happened to freedom of speech and the right to choose? We don't force those young women to get their boobs out, they CHOOSE to do it and what's wrong with that?

Without turning this thread into a debate, some like myself more object to the placement of such images in a newspaper than a woman's right to pose for them. There is a place for sexualised images in other forms of media that are perceived as more contextually appropriate/ suitable. And even if there are women who are happy and consentually posing, what about the impact for other women due to wider perception of gendered sexuality? But I would rather not discuss this on here as I discuss it enough at uni!

Remember it was asked if the youth members wanted to give guidings support, and it was a yes vote. Even if you are not impressed by it, why not (if section appropriate) use it as a staring point to ask girls their views, and if they think it relates to freedom of speech? Clearly there is some support for the end of P3 within guiding or it wouldn't have gone ahead.

I think that's a whole other discussion. The point of the No More Page Three, as I understand, is not to stop women going topless in the press, but stopping topless pictures being printed in a daily 'newspaper' where they could easily be seen by children. Leave soft porn in the soft porn magazines!

I'm a Guider who should probably be in the shower by now.

Sounds like a reason to go shopping!
I'm a guider who has done just that... through unfortunately it took scrounging EVERY store at the (decently seized) local shopping centre to find the black dresses. I have now seen every black dress at said shopping centre, and was a little underwhelmed with the options available- apparently its not the season for black dresses... but came out with one simple nice one that was on sale, but requires a little alteration.

What I spent cutting out wasn't that amazing truth be told. But, the fact that the UH never offers to help then disses (or isn't encouraging) about what I have done for the girls, really bothers me.
