If you have an increase, first give the most advanced notice you can. Then a reminder the fortnight before and then the week before it does increase if you aren’t increasing at the start of a new term. That means it’s on people’s radar/they’ve been given fair warning but most people tend to forget after a week or so.

I’d also not put too much detail about why it’s being increased, other than being inline with inflation/general running cost increase since four years ago.
