Hi, had a search and nothing came up.

I also looked on Pinterest but apparently I didn't pin anything

I'm looking for ideas for Burns night.

I was thinking to make a Scottish flag or thistles.

We don't really ever do sewing so I thought that would be nice?

We're a Rainbow unit. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Aldi will be stocking haggis, so we thought about tasting it.

Somewhere (not sure where) I've seen a thistle shape cut out of green felt. At the top, a few straight lines of lilac thread were stitched over the felt. It was quite simple, but looked a like a good introduction to sewing. Don't forget to thread needles before the meeting though, and be ready to thread several times over. My Brownies aren't very good at threading needles.

If you thread a needle, then double it over and tie a knot at the end they can't come unthreaded. You can also use the knot to make a loop through to start you off - up through the fabric, down (making the first small stitch) then pass the needle through the loop made between knot and fabric.

We have done sword dancing

stick masking tape on the floor in the shape of a cross and the girls dance over the cross to scottish dance music without cutting their toes off

You can also buy haggis flavour crisps if you are not brave enough to try the real thing ( not a patch on the real thing tho)

There are some cute word searches etc on Activity Village. We are having Burns Night tomorrow night with dancing, haggis and shortbread. I found this (apparently Scottish!) game on Google somewhere which we might try:

Plainy Clappy - bouncing ball against the wall and doing the action before catching

Plainy! (bounce and catch the ball)

Clappy! (bounce and clap before catching)

Roll the reel! (bounce and roll hands together before catching)

Tabacky! (bounce and clap hands behind back before catching)

Right hand! (bounce and catch using right hand only)

Left hand! (bounce and catch using left hand only)

Low skiteesh! (bounce and lace hands together to catch underhand)

High skiteesh! (bounce and lace hands together to catch overhead)

Touch your lap! (bounce and touch knees before catching)

Touch your toe! (bounce and touch toes before catching)

Touch your heel! (bounce and touch heel before catching)

Touch the ground! (bounce and touch ground before catching)

Wee burlaround! (bounce and clap in front and behind before catching)

Big burlaround! (bounce then spin on the spot before catching)

That game sounds cool! Unfortunately we have loads of Windows so wouldn't be able to do that game
