Not having any luck, and tiredness is catching up with me (been up since 6.30 am yesterday) so I'm off for a little sleep before I get some inspiration from my AG at guides tonight - she know EVERYTHING it's great

Big Buffalo
Coming round the mountain
Far, far way

Big Buffalo
Coming round the mountain
Far, far away

Far, far away, uh uh uh
Far, far away, uh uh uh
Big Buffalo
Coming round the mountain
Far, far away

next verse is tiny buffalo
next verse is enormous buffalo

(do actions at the same time)

Lean forward, Lean backward
To the left and to the right
Stand up and sit down
and to the left and to the right

Then you carry on with the actions but sing the words to Daisy Daisy

You can also do the opposite action to what you are singing i.e. you lean backwards when you sing 'lean forward'

Raise left hand when you say 'left' and right hands when you say 'right'

I left my luggage
in a left luggage locker.
And I went right back
With the right ticket too.
But the luggage that I left
in the left luggage locker.
Wasn't right where I left it
Whatever shall I do?

Repeat, getting faster each time.

oh yes! (to the tune of the William Tell overture)

I've got a head like a ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ball
Like a ping, like a ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ping pong ping pong ping pong ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ping pong ping pong ping pong ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ball
I've got a head like a ping pong ball
Like a ping, like a ping pong ball

Next verse - you've got a head like etc.
Next verse - we've got heads like etc.

okay hten, on the subject of songs.... can anyone tell me the words (and a link to the tune) for what the Scouts sang as they ambled off to bed? I remember it being very lovely and being on the lines of beauty before me, beauty beside me but I can't remember properly how it goes!

I taught my guides the big buffalo song tonight and they loved it, in fact they asked if they could sing it before taps every week!

For this chant you need to establish a signal for when the leader speaks/sings and when the other participants repeat.

'There once was a Masai Warrior, called Rikki Tikki Tumba. He fought bravely in the wars. He carried a shield and a spear but was wounded badly in his chest. He wandered the desert and called out to his god for help.'

'Rikki Tikki Tumba' (others repeat)
'A Massa massa massa' (repeat)
'O bala way, bala wo, bala way' (repeat)

(cup ear) He listened for a reply from god.....but heard nothing, so again he said

(louder)
'Rikki Tikki Tumba' (others repeat)
'A Massa massa massa' (repeat)
'O bala way, bala wo, bala way' (repeat)

You keep on repeating, getting louder each time until you are really shouting. Then after the last repeat you say

'And then he died.'

As I wasn't at G2G2 myself this is a guess from the title - am i right?

Elephant in the Attic

What's that I hear
Up in the attic
it is an elephant
cycling round and round
it is an elephant
so chic and elegant
with one tail here
and one tail there
Ours went....

What's that I hear? (Cup hand behind ear)
Up in the attic (point up)
it is an elephant (mimic a trunk with arm)
cycling around (spin round)
it is an elephant (trunk again)
so chic and elegant (pose!)
with his trunk out here (trunk AGAIN)
and his tail out there (mimic a tail)

Repeat nine times, still doing all the actions, but missing out singing the italic bits off one more line each time, then the whole thing in full again at the end.

Can't think of a way to descibe the tune on here really Bryony! Anyone else?

(G2G2 is only the 3rd time I'd sung that song, so I was pretty smug and impressed with myself :D)

Don't forget 'Singing in the rain'.

I'm singing in the rain
Just singing in the rain
What a glorious feeling
I'm happy again
Hang about
(hang about)

Arms out
(arms out)

A roo ta ta, a roo ta ta, a roo ta ta ta
A roo ta ta, a roo ta ta, a roo ta ta ta

Repeat, adding an extra action each time....

thumbs up
elbows back
shoulders out
boobs out (well, this one was a new one on me, cheers Doll!)
Bum out
Tounge out

Hehe, aces!! :D

the elephant song has the same tune as a song I know about a bird...

that goes "I saw a bird, with a yellow bill, it landed on, my window sill, I coaxed it in, with a piece of bread, and then i bashed it on the head....

a pretty gruesome song that my girls love making up more and more horrible verses for!

knees together

tongue out
turn around

and on the last time you say sit down to end the song.

everyone has different versions of this though (so it doesn't matter what you sing, the next group will always do it differently! lol!)

the one I know is:
thumbs out
elbows in
knees together
toes turned in
bum out
head down
tongue out............ a ritch cha cha, a ritch cha cha, a ritch a cha cha!

I prefer it, not just cos it's the one I learnt originally, but because the first bit rhymes nicely when you chant it! :D

and some people sing 'have a banana' between 'singing in the rain' bits, and another I've heard is: I'm singing in the rain 'stormy weather' just singing in the rain 'take an umbrella'.
