National Awards Question

Hi I wonder if anyone had any experience of the following and can offer some assitance please.

Myself and a group of local Guiders want to nominate someone for a National Award. Having looked on the website, any nomination should be discussed with the “relevant Commissioner” and then submitted to the relevant Region Office.

However, the person we want to nominate is our Div Comm so obviously we can’t discuss with her! So do we contact our County Commissioner (or relevant deputy) to discuss and then submit to our Regional HQ?

Is any able to confirm the process and give any tips?

Yes, you need to discuss with your County Commissioner and collect the necessary testimonials. The forms will be on your region website probably.

The secret is to get a variety of supporting reports giving a broad view of why they are deserving. It may reflect all their roles and why they did a great job. Remember there are regional awards as well as national... But we need to nominate more people generally... There are so many that deserve recognition.

You will need at least 6 supporting letters, and as Quack said giving a wide view of why they are deserving of an award and do remember that eg, parent, young leader, Guide/senior section can also write letters.
