I have my first Paralympic shift tomorrow. Cant wait.
Going on Friday and Tuesday exciteddddd
What you going to see?
I have tickets for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, plus Friday and Saturday the week after. I am so excited to watch the ceremony tonight; it has been great to know nothing about it! I am hoping to see as many different sports as I can as I have quite a few day passes. Most excited about seeing Oscar Pistorius in the 200m!
apparently uk tickets sales for paraolympics are the highest ever (compared to previous hosts of paraolympics) - now I know why, emmaluyvseeyore has bought all the tickets
equestrian (dressage mixed team) on friday with my mum and my friend
athletics and wheelchair fencing with Sofa next tuesday (loooooooooooooong day.....half 6 train in the morning and will return approx 11pm ish)
I'm hoping they'll be seats for us lot with day passes if the events are sell outs!
I'm seeing judo and athletics and wheelchair fencing
I'm seeing wheelchair archery on Saturday I think and then a whole range of events in the stadium on Sunday morning!
I think the paralympics ought to be combined with the main olympics and just add in the extra events, rather than being held separately a couple of weeks later (only personal view... ducks for cover)
I know what you're saying but I believe an awful lot of adaptations are made to the venues etc in the 2 weeks so it simply wouldn't be viable.
It's also far more complex in terms of categorisation. For example, 400m swimming - in the Olympics, there are just two versions, men's and women's. In the Paralympics, there are far more categories in terms of disability, ie physical disabilities, visual, learning difficulties etc, and different levels - in the visual categories they all wear blackened goggles so they are equal, but it's harder to even it out on a physical disability, and this will be split down again depending on the level of disability
Going on Saturday with my Guide unit. Raspberry neckers with guiding blue trim. I will have my Guiders pin on my rucksak with a bunch of Badgefreak badges on it.
We have park tickets for the day.
Early start have to get to the train station for 6.30 means a 5.30 start for me I'm going to be shattered.
I was at the opening ceremony last night and was so glad we were - it was fantastic It's a real shame that we can't get back there for any of the sporting events, but have too much already going on the rest of this week and hubby is back to work on Tuesday and children are back to school on Thursday, then Brownie Camp!!!
That a shame, I'm at Olympic park on Sunday!
I'm back to the grind stone on the Sunday another early start!
I'm going on Monday with 4999 other Sainsbury's colleagues.
I have just had an email saying I have got a place for the parade, was anyone else successful in the ballot for a place?
I am having the most amazing time, and going to be so sad when its all over.
I saw quite a big unit with union flag neckers on Saturday spread all over the park. Was this your unit HMSisME? What an amazing experience for the girls, and hope they all had an amazing time
Not sure if you have been yet, so advice for day passes.
Plan which sessions you want to go to, and then get to them early. The ExCeL has boards up throughout with a colour coded system to let you know which sessions have seats available. In the Olympic Park they have announcements and big signs regarding availability. Althought there aren't tickets left for sale, I only found that 1 day pass venue was actually full when I went (and this was because GB were playing); many of the others had plenty of seats free.
